“Invalid Easting API key. Check Easting settings.”
Section titled ““Invalid Easting API key. Check Easting settings.””The key is mistyped, revoked, or rotated. Paste the current one from your account page into Easting → Settings.
“The project CRS is geographic (degrees)…”
Section titled ““The project CRS is geographic (degrees)…””Not an error, and the browser never shows it: its map handles projection itself. In QGIS, placement needs a projected CRS so distances in feet stay meaningful. Switch the project to the parcel’s UTM zone or State Plane and place again.
“…closed the connection before the upload finished.”
Section titled ““…closed the connection before the upload finished.””The server rejected the request without reading the document, which usually means an invalid API key, sometimes an exhausted quota or an oversized file. Check the key first. If it keeps happening, email support@easting.ai.
“No locatable description found in this document.”
Section titled ““No locatable description found in this document.””The document describes land without courses or a PLSS chain. Lot-and-block conveyances, and easement areas that live only on an attached drawing, are recorded in the metadata rather than drawn. This is a refusal rather than a failure: see what Easting will not do.
“This document is N MB; the limit is 32 MB.”
Section titled ““This document is N MB; the limit is 32 MB.””32 MB is the ceiling for a single document, and the plugin handles large files for you: anything too big to send in one request is uploaded separately and deleted as soon as it has been read, with nothing to configure.
Past 32 MB, split the document or rescan at a lower resolution. County scans at 300 dpi fit comfortably; drum scans of full plat books do not. The limit applies to the PDF, so a TIFF measured just under it can still land over once converted. The message says both sizes when that happens.
